Look at you. Found the hidden track. Well done, you. And since you’ve probably come from Track 173: More Plastic Pop, you already know what this is about. So here they are, the cover versions of Ed Sheeran’s The A Team by NMTBuzzkills favourites Hannah Trigwell and ortoPilot.
Ladies first – and with it my favourite of the two covers, based on the fact that The A Team is one of my favourite Trigwell covers yet. I just keep coming back to it. It even occasionally pops into my mind out of nowhere when I’m out and about. That’s how charming it is.
… which doesn’t make the ortoPilot version bad by any definition of the word. It’s like the silver medallion at the Olympic games. Sure, you’re the first loser. But you’re still better than that guy with the bronze medal. And basically better than the rest of the world, too. Seriously though, this is a fantastic cover. And another proof why YouTube is so fantastic and always worth a fishing trip: same song, two different interpretations, both awesome in their own rights. Many more out there.
