According to Wikipedia, it is incorrect to talk about “rip tides”. Correct would be “rip current”. But a) who really cares about what Wikipedia says? and b) “I like where I’m at, on my back, floating down on my own rip current, the water is fine” just wouldn’t sound right.
And Riptide, off the (highly recommended) Sick Puppies album Tri-Polar (2009), sounds fine – really, really fine – exactly the way it is. That goes for the rocking-driving tune as well as for the middle-finger-in-the-air lyrics. If you’re lucky, you can find part of the Riptide lyrics in the Lyric Randomocity field in the side bar. Or you can read them while listening to the song in what just might be the best lyrics video ever made on the Riptide, as seen on the official Sick Puppies YouTube channel
By the by, the bonus track version of Tri-Polar has been released a couple of days ago. So if love good rock music and you don’t have the album yet, there is no better time to get it than the present. Now, if only the new acoustic EP Polar Opposite wasn’t that difficult to get your hands on.
